Over the hill crossplay: confirmed plans and current limits
To play together now, organise a Steam session using the multiplayer guide. Crossplay is a developer plan and the Xbox listing advertises cross-platform co-op, but those statements do not establish a working Steam-to-console session before the announced 2027 console release.
Quick guide
Steam is released; consoles announced for 2027.
- Both on Steam: use room name/region or the session code.
- One on a console: wait for that version’s release and its supported platform pairings.
- For shared saves or ownership, check the named store ecosystem separately.
Choose the situation that matches your group
| Your group | Next step |
|---|---|
| Steam + Steam | Join through Multiplayer; each player completes their own checkpoint. |
| Steam + PS5 / Xbox / Switch 2 | Do not schedule a confirmed cross-platform session from the FAQ alone. The console releases and pairings still matter. |
| Xbox ecosystem ownership / saves | Read the Xbox listing’s Play Anywhere and cloud-save conditions; they do not establish Steam ownership or save transfer. |
Separate crossplay, cross-save and a second copy
Crossplay concerns playing in the same session. Cross-save concerns moving progress, and shared ownership concerns which store grants a copy. The Xbox listing names Play Anywhere and Xbox cloud saves; that does not mean a Steam purchase grants the Xbox version.
Sources & version notes
Developer FAQ says crossplay is planned. Xbox store lists cross-platform co-op, Play Anywhere and Xbox cloud saves. No tested released Steam/console pairing or Steam cross-save process was found.
Release-era sources reviewed on October 15, 2026. Older FAQ plans are distinguished from current launch information; editorial advice is not a claim of hands-on testing.
